2026-2027 PTSA Elections: How Our Nomination Process Works

PTA Elections are soon underway at our upcoming June GMM. We want to share with you the process we follow based on Wake PTA guidance, so every family understands how candidates are selected and how the vote is conducted.

  1. Nomination Committee consisting of 3 members are appointed to oversee the candidate selection process.

  2. Nominations asks the current board members and chairs their intentions for next year, or if they are interested in any other positions. They see which positions are open and need to be filled. List of open positions are posted on the website and communicated via school newsletter, and the nominations committee starts requesting interested candidates to contact them.

  3. Nominations starts looking through all interested parties to find a suitable candidate for each particular role based on their experience and interests. Once they meet all candidates for a role, the nominations committee will decide collectively on one candidate to put forth for each role. These names are put on a final slate of candidates as nominees.

  4. Slate of officers are put forth by the nominating committee to the Board and General membership, 10 days prior to the General Membership Meeting.

  5. Vote for 2026-2027 PTSA Officers is conducted during the June General Membership Meeting. Once quorum is met, the Nominations committee chair presents the slate of officers at the meeting, and the President conducts the vote for each officer role one at a time. The President will present the nominee for each role and ask for any further nominations from the floor.

  6. Once all officers are voted on, elections are complete and the 2026-2027 officers have been elected for next year. This list of newly elected officers will be posted on our website.
